Silverbell Road Improvement Project
Ina Road to Grant Road
Silverbell Road Improvement Project will widen 8 miles of Silverbell Road, from Grant Road to Ina Road, to a curbed four-lane divided roadway (2 lanes in each direction) and will include:
- a raised median island
- bike lanes
- a sidewalk on the west side of Silverbell (Grant Road to Goret Road)
- a multi-use path on the east side of Silverbell
- drainage crossing improvements
- LED lighting
- signal improvements at the Grant, Goret, Sweetwater, and El Camino del Cerro intersections (signal improvements will be evaluated during the design of El Camino del Cerro to Ina at a future time)
- bus stop improvements
- native landscape
- retaining walls at the larger slopes
- public art

Upcoming 60% Design Open House - November 14, 2016
The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), the Pima County Department of Transportation (PCDOT), and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA)invite you to an Open House to review the preliminary 60% design plans for the roadway improvements on Silverbell Road, between Goret Road and El Camino del Cerro. Representatives from TDOT, PCDOT, RTA and the Project Team will be available to discuss the overall project and answer any questions you might have. Your input is important to us.
Design Concept Study: Silverbell Road, Grant Road to Ina Road
The Design Concept Study was completed in 2010. Click here to review the Design Concept Report. The new roadway will be a 4-lane divided desert parkway and will include a continuous multi-use path, bike lanes, drainage improvements, new native landscaping with water harvesting features, and enhanced wildlife crossings. This roadway is a critical regional transportation link that serves the west and northwest portions of the Tucson metropolitan area and will promote mobility and provide improved capacity and safety.

This project is part of the $2.1 billion Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) plan approved by voters in 2006. It is managed by the City of Tucson and the RTA in conjunction with the Town of Marana and Pima County.
